Admission Process:
Candidates interested to take admission in first year of 3 years diploma program in Govt. Polytechnics are required to take PAT (Polytechnic admission test) which is being conducted by Himachal Pradesh Takniki Shiksha Board Dharamshala Distt. Kangra H.P every year in the month of April/May. The selection for admission to different courses is being conducted by Directorate of technical education H.P Sundernagar through centralized counseling on the basis of merit of PAT.
Admission into second year of diploma level courses under lateral entry scheme is made on the basis of merit of LEET (lateral entry entrance test) or 10+2 science after exhausting the merit of LEET.

(Minimum Eligibility Qualification / Criteria for Two Years Engineering Diploma Courses through Lateral Entry ).
Eligibility criteria for direct admission to 2nd year (3rd semester) in Polytechnic Engineering diploma courses under Lateral Entry Scheme as per AICTE, Approval Process Hand Book, which are as under:-
Passed 10+2 examination with Physics/Mathematics/Chemistry/Computer Science/Electronics /InformationTechnology/Biology/Informatics Practices/Biotechnology/Technical Vocational subject/Agriculture/Engineering Graphics/ Business Studies/Entrepreneurship as per table 8.4 of AICTE, Approval Process Handbook (APH) 2024-27.
Or
10th + 2 years ITI under NCVT/SCVT/COE in engineering stream shall be eligible for admission to Second Year Diploma Course(s) of appropriate Programme as per AICTE Norms. (The Affiliating Body will offer suitable bridge courses such as Mathematics, Physics, Engineering drawing, etc for the students coming from diverse backgrounds to achieve desired learning outcomes of the programme).
Process of admission to second year in Polytechnics through Lateral Entry Scheme:
The admission shall be made strictly on the merit of marks obtained in Lateral Entry Entrance Test (LEET-2024) conducted by H.P. Takniki Shiksha Board Dharamshala. The applicant must secure 15% marks for General Category and 10% marks for reserved categories in LEET-2024 to qualify and participate in the online process for admission to 2nd year diploma courses for the academic session 2024-25.
The eligible candidate(s) who have not appeared in LEET-2024 can also apply in 2nd round of Online Counselling and subsequent rounds of Centralized Offline Counselling as Non LEET candidates.
The applicant (s) who have not secured the qualifying marks in LEET-2024 are also eligible to apply in 2nd round of Online Counselling and subsequent rounds of Centralized Offline Counselling, however the admission in this round shall be made first on the basis of the merit of qualified LEET candidates followed by merit of marks obtained in minimum educational qualification prescribed by AICTE as specified above for non qualified/non LEET candidates on the basis of inter se merit.
The schedule/timeline of online/Centralized Offline/institution level counselling shall be published separately in newspapers as well as uploaded on the official website of H.P. Takniki Shiksha Board Dharamshala.
There will be no provisional admission whatsoever either in regular diploma stream or Lateral Entry Level. Admission in TFW, AIQ, Single Girl Child, Widow Candidates & Kashmiri Migrants seats shall not be made under Lateral Entry Scheme. In the Architecture Assistantship diploma course, there is no provision for lateral entry for admission in 2nd year.
